Not to mention all Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)-owned parking bays within the city’s central business district (CBD), will have its parking charges increased by 150%, effective 18th July 2016. If you decided to park on a road shoulder or at a location not marked as a parking lot for convenience or to save a ringgit or two only to come back to find your car.... gone, this guide is for you.

Towing Hot Spots in Kuala Lumpur

Some of the hot-spots identified in our research that you should really avoid parking unlawfully at were Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Kenanga, Jalan Pudu Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Telawi. There is also a two hour limit for parking in Bukit Bintang, KLCC and Ampang, so do make sure you get a new ticket or park your car again after two hours when in these locations to avoid getting your car towed.

Documents you need to provide

You need to ensure that you bring the documents below to prove the ownership of your car before claiming your car.

  1. Original vehicle registration card (Grant)
  2. Original vehicle cover note (Insurance)
  3. Representative – Please bring along a representation letter from the owner and a copy of the owner’s identity card.

If items (a) – (c) are not available, please bring along

  1. A copy of the vehicle registration card or the cover note (Insurance)
  2. A sworn declaration from the Commissioner of Oath
  3. Fill up Vehicle Claims Declaration Form

Should the vehicle be involved with a Police case the following documents must be submitted:-

  1. A copy of the police report
  2. A copy from the related Investigating Officer
  3. A Court Order
